A fateful fall...

In March of 2016, six-month-old Gold fell into a deep, open-pit water well. Trapped there for hours or perhaps days, Gold’s mother and his herd eventually abandoned him. Exhausted from his struggles to free himself, he was rescued by the Elephant Conservation Centre (ECC). Efforts to return Gold to his mother and his herd in the wild were unsuccessful and he is now a permanent resident of the Centre. Like Jun, he will require lifelong care.
