THINGS TO KNOW

Dates:  November 6 - 14, 2019

Location: Our trip will begin and end in Mandalay, Myanmar, with elephant-friendly projects undertaken at Green Hill Valley and adventure excursions in the Kalaw and Inle Lake region.

Minimum Age: Our program is open to adults ages 18+

Program Capacity: Limited to a maximum of 6 persons.

Nature of our Work and Play: This program involves manual labor and physical activity. Bending, stooping, walking, and getting dirty are on our 'to do list.' In addition, our day-long hike around the Kalaw region will take us up and down hills over 5-6 hours. Having a moderate level of fitness will make your trip much more enjoyable but you don't need to be a ninja!

Accommodations: Our home base for five nights, from which we will travel daily to and from Green Hill Valley, will be at the historic Kalaw Heritage Hotel. We'll spend two nights at Novotel Inle Lake Myat Min and two nights in Mandalay at the beginning and end of the program. Rooms are booked as single-occupancy unless requested otherwise.

Meals: Three meals a day--with many yummy choices--will include traditional local dishes. Vegetarian options are always available.

Our Elephant Experts: Dr. Susan Mikota and our Green Hill Valley partners--Maw, Htun, Ba and their staff--bring decades (and generations!) of combined expertise in elephant healthcare, welfare, and humane management.

Program Fee: $2,985 Per Person: Includes all lodging (single room occupancy), meals and beverages, airport-to-hotel transfer on November 6,  ground transportation and, if applicable, in-country airfare, venue entry fees, Inle Lake boat excursion, project materials, team t-shirt, and refillable Green Hill Valley sip bottle. If you prefer to share a room, please let us know well in advance. We will do our best to make adjustments to our reservations and pricing.

Not Included in Program Fee: International airfare, visa, mandatory evacuation and repatriation insurance, excursions outside of this program, gratuities, transfer to airport at end of program, and personal items are not included in the program fee. Room service, laundry fees, and, personal bar tab costs (if applicable) incurred during hotel stays will be billed separately at the end of the program.

Ele-Fundraising! You'll be asked to raise $500 using a super easy online crowdfunding tool. All proceeds raised--in addition to a portion of your program fee--will support the elephant veterinary care initiatives of Elephant Care International and Green Hill Valley.
